1st Annual By the Bay Parade of Homes (18 May 2012)

Thinking of a new home in the Northern Neck? Perhaps a new kitchen or bath for your pied-a-terre? Or maybe refreshing the décor? Then the 1st annual By the Bay Parade of Homes is the place to come for everything you need to know. Featuring 13 unique home properties through-out Lancaster & Northumberland Counties. This event will showcase builders, craftsmen, home décor designers and other vendors in the home building arena. Start off by coming to Parade Headquarters, Good Luck Cellars, at 1025 Goodluck Rd., Kilmarnock, to get your welcome packet and map to the properties. Meet with vendors there, plus sample some of Good Luck’s vintages.

Online Pre-Parade Tickets are $20, and allows you access to one or both days. Tickets after May 16th will be $25 and must be purchased at Parade Headquarters (Good Luck) Cellars

Photographer Walker Evans and painter Edward Hooper were part of the generation of American 20th century who tore themselves away from the European ideals of their day. Join speaker Jeffrey Allison from the VA Museum of Fine Arts as he explores these artists who celebrated America without filter focusing on common people in common lives and places. This program is free and open to the public.

Abstract Painting Workshop (22 May 2012)

Award winning artist and teacher Rose Nygaard will provide an overview covering the background history of abstract art and then give an introduction to non-objective abstraction. 9TH ANNUAL NORTHERN NECK ANTIQUES FAIR (26 May 2012)

Over 30 distinguished antiques dealers from all over the United States will converge on Lancaster County, Memorial Day Weekend in The Village of Lancaster. The show will be held in the Parish Hall and new Pavillion on the grounds of Trinity Episcopal Church. Hours of the Show are Sat. May 26 9:00 to 6:00 and Sunday May 27 11:00 to 4:00.

The antiques fair is gearing up for an fun filled antiquer's weekend. Louise Jesse, Manager of the Event, said "The dealers are excited about the new location. We have many returning dealers as well as new faces for this year's show. Dealers are coming from Alabama, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey as well as Virginia and Maryland."

Food and Beverages will be provided by the Corrotoman Hunt Club at the Antiquer's Cafe.

The 6th Annual "Patron's Gala Art Show" (30 May 2012)

Original works of art donated by Rappahannock Art League Member Artists will be on exhibit for the Annual RAL Fundraiser. Come by and view the art work Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm and purchase your ticket for the Sunday Gala raffle which will be held on June 24, from 5 pm - 7 pm. Every ticket holder will take part in the drawing and will have an opportunity to choose a valuable work of art from the Show to take home with them. Tickets are $100 and more than one can be purchased. The public is welcome to observe the drawing with no charge.

The 4th annual Kilmarnock Wine Festival is back on Saturday, June 23rd , sponsored by the Lancaster by the Bay Chamber of Commerce. Tickets can be purchased online at ww.lancasterva.com/events until June 20th and the Chamber office at 506 N. Main St., Kilmarnock. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the gate.

Admission covers wine tasting from vineyards of the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail, a souvenir wine glass for the first 500 tickets holders and live entertainment under the festival tent. This year’s entertainment will include Billy Batte from 12 pm to 2 pm and Planet Full of Blues from 3 pm to 5 pm. Gates open at 11:00 am.

Some of the participating vineyards are Athena Vineyards & Winery, Belle Mount Vineyards, General's Ridge, Good Luck Cellars, Ingleside Vineyards, The Hague Winery, Oak Crest Vineyard, Saude' Creek Vineyards, and Vault Field Vineyards. Again this year the wine festival will also have some great vendors; Greek foods, Italian foods, cheeses, fresh breads and Virginia wine art.

Bring the family, chair or blanket and spend the day in Kilmarnock. No coolers please! Come early and visit the merchants along Main Street.
