Rappahannock Art League Art Forum: "Mother, Model, Mistress, Master: Suzanne Valadon"

The Art Forum for March features speaker Jeffrey W. Allison, Paul Mellon Statewide Educator VMFA. Mr. Allison's lecture will reveal through her art work and that of her employers the extraordinary life and work of Suzanne Valadon who was an artist's model whose beauty attracted the artistic as well as erotic attentions of Toulouse-Lautrec and other major artists of the period. She refined her own artistic skills by observing the artists who employed her. Edgar Degas in particular was a major teacher and sponsor of her work.
