This week’s Lancaster by the Bay Chamber Business of the Week is The Dandelion—a true style staple in the heart of Irvington!

Founded in 1975 by Mary Lloyd Lay, Mary Louisa Pollard, and Bonnie Rumsey, and now proudly owned by Sheila Broderick Brown and Jeannie Ward-Smith, The Dandelion is nestled in a charming yellow Victorian home that once served as the parsonage for the Irvington Methodist Church.

For nearly 50 years, The Dandelion has been more than a boutique—it’s been a space where women mentor, empower, and connect across generations. With an eye on global fashion trends, The Dandelion curates collections from top designers and shares them with the Northern Neck community. Their legacy also includes years of giving back—through local fundraisers, school events, and the mentorship of young women across the region.

Celebrate their golden anniversary this summer with photo displays and special in-store events. Stop by The Dandelion—where tradition meets timeless style!
